Ethical Society Mid Rivers Celebrates 20th Years
SATURDAY, AUGUST 12 | 1:00 to 4:00 PM
O’FALLON, MO – Ethical Society Mid Rivers is celebrating 20 years of meeting to explore and enact ethics, tolerance, compassion and social action. The Humanist congregation is marking this milestone with a 20 th Anniversary Celebration Open House on Saturday, August 12, from 1- 4 p.m., at 117 Triad Center West in O'Fallon, Missouri. The event is free and open to the public. “We are excited to invite people to our new meeting space, which we moved to in late spring,” President of the Ethical Society Mid Rivers Board of Directors, Bill Aul said. “We’re hoping to create an even larger impact in the St. Charles County community. We are looking to expand our presence into Warren and Lincoln Counties as well, since we are more centrally located. I encourage you to join us during this celebration and explore your belief in good.” |

A laboratory for personal growth, Ethical Society Mid Rivers offers visitors and members an opportunity to come together to explore the biggest questions of life without reference to scripture, religion or God. In its Sunday Ethical Education for Kids (SEEK) classes, an appreciation of diversity is encouraged, a sense of social responsibility is fostered, and ethical values are developed. Over the past 20 years, tremendous learning has taken place and lifelong friendships have been forged.
“If your personal philosophy parallels with the values of Humanism, you’ll be a good fit for the Ethical Society Mid Rivers,” founding member Dee Meyer said. “It is rewarding on both a social and personal level. It’s always good to have like-minded friends you can share ideas with, keep informed of relevant topics, and participate in community events to help others.” The Society has positively impacted St. Charles County and emerged as the fastest growing Ethical Society in the country.
In 2022-2023 alone, the community put deed before creed via ethical actions such as continued maintenance of its Adopt-a-Highway area; clean-ups at the Greenwood Cemetery in Ferguson, Missouri; postcard writing campaign to get out the vote; ongoing support of a local youth organization, supplying meals for their emergency shelter and supplies needed throughout the
year; assistance to a local transgender support group that meets in its space; and modest financial support to several local organizations that work with immigrants and other underserved populations in greater Saint Louis area. The Ethical Society Mid Rivers wants to connect with its past and current members and hopes they can attend this special occasion. Please email ESMR Leader Intern Louise Jett at ljett@aeu.org to RSVP, even though doing so is not required.
