Help for Humanists

Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.

Eschewing belief in a deity or deities can make finding non-theistic resources challenging when seeking help, information, support, and opportunities for volunteerism. We hope the following non-theistic resources are helpful:
Children and Education:
  • Learning for Justice
  • Raising Caring, Respectful, Ethical Children
  • Making Caring Common
    (Harvard Graduate School of Education)
  • Parenting Beyond Belief
  • Navigators Alternative Scouting
(Chapter 33 is active via the Ethical Society St. Louis.)
  • Neurodiversity Podcast
(Specifically for neurodivergent, gifted, 2e, and high ability kids)
  • Raising Ethical Kids
  • The Kindness Initiative
(A curriculum for teaching intentional kindness as a critical part of a complete education)

LGBTQIA+
  • PFLAG
Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays
  • St Charles LGBTQ+ Social Group
The St Charles LGBTQ+ Social Group's mission is to create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ individuals to connect, support each other, and build a strong community.
  • The Lion and the Owl
Genderless clothing for kids, and trans youth support

Homelessness:
  • Atheist Alliance Helping the Homeless-Saint Louis
Humanism:
  • The Humanist Society

Informed Citizenship:
  • League of Women Voters of Missouri
  • Empower Missouri

Mental Health:
  • NAMI St. Louis
    (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
  • Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS)

Freedom From Religion:
  • D.R.I.F.T.E.R.S.
A support group for those DECONSTRUCTING RELIGIOUS INDOCTRINATION, who feel F#@%ED-UP from the TRAUMA of it all. Here, you can EXPLORE options for treatment, RECONNECT with community (and yourself), and find SUPPORT from others who understand.

Generally meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at the Ethical Society Mid Rivers. Sign up for our newsletter for meeting confirmation.
